Belarus didn’t lockdown.

That’s it really. They’re doing great.

As the BMJ says, “Belarus’s beleaguered government remains unfazed by covid-19. President Aleksander Lukashenko, who has been in power since 1994, has flatly denied the seriousness of the pandemic, refusing to impose a lockdown, close schools, or cancel mass events like the Belarusian football league or the Victory Day parade.”

They tested hard and early. Isolated the sick well. People don't trust their untrustworthy post-Soviet government. They made decisions for themselves.

They have plenty of hospital beds and not many oldies in care homes. Okay. Most countries could rapidly roll out makeshift hospitals. Those that did (like UK's Nightingales) didn't even use them. Shut them down.

Countries with plenty of old folk in homes refused to let them out. They sent them back in! Government is the problem.

So… Government is the problem.
